The Rubber Duckies are Back!

Thousands of people will line the banks of the Ol’ Bull River on Saturday, October 4th to watch the rubber ducks race down the river. Will your duck be the winner?

Race your Duck for Four Great Causes

Race your duck(s) for one or all four of these great community partners:

100% of the PROCEEDS from your duck purchase go to the community partner you select. Individual and Corporate ducks can be purchased directly from each community partner (look for the links below).

The Great American Tobacco Duck Race has generated over $175,000 for area community partners.


There will be prizes for winners of the Duck Race, at both the individual and corporate level. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place. There are also prizes awarded for the “Best Decorated Duck”. You don’t have to be present to win.

Prizes include:

  • Duke, UNC, NC State, and NCCU Men’s Basketball tickets
  • Carolina Panthers tickets
  • Durham Bulls Suite during a baseball game for 30 people
  • RBC Suite during a Carolina Hurricanes game for 15 people

Duck Decorating Contest sponsored by James Scott Farrin

Come out early and decorate your “Race Duck” and enter it into the Duck Decorating Contest! There are prizes awarded for first, second and third place.

A panel of judges will choose their favorite duck and the audience will determine who the overall top three are based on applause.

Duck Decorating area, sponsored by the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin, filled with FREE-to-use art supplies, will be available for the public to their decorate ducks at the festival.

Everyone who wants to enter the contest must place their decorated duck in the Duck Pool no later than 2:45pm at  American Tobacco.

How to Buy Ducks

Individuals and companies can purchase one duck or as many as you’d like.

  • People Ducks – $10 each  (SPECIAL! Buy two People Ducks for $20 and get one FREE)
  • Corporate Ducks – $250 each

Online purchases include a processing and credit card fee. Sales confirmation must be shown in order to claim ducks and wrist bands at participating community partners or at the event.

Everyone who wants to enter the DUCK RACE must place their duck(s) in the DUCK GATOR no later than 3:15pm. Ducks will be simultaneously released to race down the Ol’ Bull River at or around 3:30pm on October 4th at American Tobacco!
